Snail-Sized Steps, Big-Time Growth
Turns out, snails in my aquarium are masters of the slow-but-steady hustle — just like my current Bootcamp entrepreneurs. Learn how tiny, unexciting steps (like, say, scrubbing algae) build unstoppable momentum. From nailing down customer needs to finding their groove with time management, my bootcampers are leaving trails of progress all over their businesses — snail-style.
When my spouse added two snails to our aquarium, I was admittedly underwhelmed. I knew they served an essential purpose, but compared to flashier or more entertaining algae eaters, the snails seemed... well, dull.
On the first day, I noticed one of the tiny rock-like creatures hunkered in a corner of the tank. Later, while taking a stretch break between client calls, I spotted it on the opposite side of the tank. The little mollusk was making serious headway, even though I never saw it move. Color me intrigued.
Power of Persistence
Throughout the day, I realized this tiny creature, though hardly riveting, was making remarkable progress—just like many entrepreneurs taking small, steady steps that add up to big changes over time. I’m seeing this journey unfold in my current Small Business Bootcamp cohort.
Clearing the Path for Growth
These bootcamp participants have been making incredible progress for the past few months, even if it sometimes feels subtle day-to-day. They’ve interviewed customers, created profiles of their target markets, and identified their customers’ top needs in their own words. They’ve honed their unique value propositions and written brand stories that resonate.
The snail’s journey isn’t only about progress; it’s about focus and strategy. The current bootcamp cohort has also delved into the complex world of time management, pinpointing styles and tools that align with their natural work rhythms. Prioritizing tasks that directly impact profitability has been a game-changer.
Like the snail, these business owners may not see dramatic changes overnight. But the beauty is in the accumulation of small actions. Every task, conversation, and bit of research moves them forward, often in ways they won’t fully recognize until they reflect on how far they've come.
Just as my snail clears algae to leave behind a healthier, clearer environment, my Small Business Bootcamp participants are building strong foundations for lasting growth. Small moves add up, as each modest step shapes something big.
With just one month remaining for this cohort, I’m beyond proud of each participant's strides—even if they can’t quite see the full impact yet. From where I stand, the transformation is unmistakable. Their commitment to each step has built a foundation that will continue to support them long after Basecamp ends. As they progress, I can’t wait to see how these incredible business owners’ hard work turns into lasting success.
